In 1996 the Czech Republic finished as runners-up against Germany losing 2-1 to an extra-time golden goal. The Czech Republic team does not contain many well-known players except for West Ham defensive midfielder Tomáš Souček. Souček plays deep in a midfield trio. His energy and dynamism shuts down the opposition and the Czech Reublic look to play it to the front line quickly.
As part of a new and energized West Ham United, Souček is one of the players that has helped the team reach the top of the English Premier League this season. Being a tall and imposing figure, Souček has a strong physical presence. However, he is still a very energetic box-to-box midfielder with good attacking and defensive qualities.
Jaroslav Šilhavý has been the Czech Republic head coach since 2018. His entire managerial career has been with teams in the Czech Republic First League. He has won 2 First League titles. He is calm and level-headed and has coached the team to be as efficient as possible, playing to their strengths.

Vladimír Darida has been playing for Hertha Berlin since 2015. He made his first appearance for the Czech national team in 2012 and has made 68 appearances in total since then. He operates mostly as the playmaker on the team and is currently the team captain.
