Biography
Ciro Immobile is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Lazio. Immobile began his career at Sorrento in 2002 in their youth ranks. He joined Juventus in 2009 but was loaned out to three Serie B clubs, including Pescara, with whom he won the league title as the top-scorer. He then spent one season at Genoa in 2012. His next move was to Juventus rivals Torino. At Torino, he won the Capocannoniere award for the top scorer in Serie A. He joined Borussia Dortmund in 2014 where he won the DFL-Supercup. His next permanent move was to Spanish club Sevilla in 2015. In 2016, he returned to Torino on loan, and was later sold to Lazio in July 2016. The 2019/20 season was his most prolific; he equaled the record for most Serie A goals in a season with 36, and won a third Capocannoniere title and first European Golden Shoe, given to the top scorer in Europe. Immobile has also won a Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles with Lazio.
Immobile was first capped by the Italian national team on 5 March 2014. Immobile was part of the 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He made his competitive debut in Italy’s opening 2–1 win over England in Manaus on 14 June, playing the last 17 minutes in place of Mario Balotelli. He scored his first official international goal in the third minute of a 2–0 friendly victory against the Netherlands on 4 September 2014. On 31 May 2016, Immobile was named to Antonio Conte’s 23-man Italy squad for UEFA Euro 2016. He is expected to also take part in the Euro 2021 competition as well.
