Biography
Robert Lewandowski currently plays as a striker for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and is the captain of the Poland national team. He is regarded as one of the best players in the world, and one of the best strikers in Bundesliga history. He has scored over 500 senior career goals for club and country.
Lewandowski started his career in 2005 playing for Delta Warsaw. He spent the next few years playing in the third and second tiers of Polish football, where he was top scorer two years running. Lewandowski moved to the Polish top-flight in 2008 with Lech Poznań. In 2010, he transferred to Borussia Dortmund, where he won two consecutive Bundesliga titles and the league’s top goal scorer award. In 2014 he joined Bayern Munich and has been their target man since then.
Lewandowski has been a full international for Poland since 2008 and has earned over 110 caps. He has also scored 63 international goals, becoming the all-time top scorer for Poland. In 2020, Lewandowski won the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award and the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award. He has been named to the UEFA Team of the Year twice and the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season three times. He has scored over 250 goals in the Bundesliga and is the league’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer. Lewandowski also hold the Guinness World Record for scoring the fastest five-goal haul in a European football league since records have been kept in 2015.
