Sergio Ramos is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for and captains both La Liga club Real Madrid and the Spanish national team as a centre back. He is also one of the highest scoring centre backs in the world.
Ramos started his career after playing for one year in the Sevilla B team in 2003. He then spent two years in the Sevilla senior side before moving to Real Madrid in 2005. He has been a bulwark of the team since then. He has won five La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles. Ramos has also been named La Liga’s Best Defender a record five times.
Sergio Ramos has represented the Spanish national team at four World Cups and three European Championships. He was part of the team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012. He has represented Spain at Under 16, Under 17, Under 19, and Under 21 level. Ramos made his first senior appearance for the Spanish team at the age of 18 making him the youngest player to play for the national team until 1 March 2006. He was also the youngest player to ever reach 100 caps and currently holds the record as the most capped Spanish player with 178 appearances.
