Team Highlights
Slovakia will face Poland, Sweden and Spain in Group E at this year’s UEFA European Championship 2020. During the qualifiers, the Slovaks were in the same group as Azerbaijan, Croatia, Hungary and Wales and finished third in the group. In the play-offs they then won against Ireland and Northern Ireland to make it into the competition.
The national team of Slovakia is coached by Stefan Tarkovic as interim coach at the time of publication. Marek Hamsik is the team captain.
With 26 goals in 126 games, Hamsik is both their most capped player and the record scorer.

The group stage matches for Slovakia look like this:
- Monday 14 June 2021 at 5:00 p.m. against Poland at Aviva Arena, Dublin
- Friday June 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. against Sweden at Aviva Arena, Dublin
- Wednesday 23 June 2021 at 8:00 p.m. against Russia in San Mamés, Bilbao
Should the Slovaks win group E, they would compete as group winners on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. in Hampden Park, Glasgow against the third-placed team from either group A / B / C / D.
If Slovakia reaches second place in the group, the team will have to play the second-placed team from group D on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
As one of the best third-placed teams they would have to play against the winner of group C in Budapest at 5 p.m. or against the winner of group B at 8 p.m. in Bilbao, San Mamés on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
